Last night of the
Proms
concert
Parish
hall, Dinas Powys - Wednesday November 16th
Despite the wet weather The Vale
of
Glamorgan Band’s "Last night of the Proms" was well attended and
received.
The big disappointment was
that Justine Platt, the soprano soloist for the evening, was
unable to attend.
|
The band presented a well
balanced programme including "March
from William Tell", "Spring", "Nimrod", "Fantasia on
British Sea Songs" and "Thunder and Lightning Polka".
They also played
"Deep inside the sacred temple" from the "Pearl
Fishers" by Bizet featuring Tony Williams
and Dr Haydn Jones in a Euphonium duet.
The audience joined in the traditional Last Night items including
"Jerusalem" and "Land of Hope and Glory".

 |
The
band was also pleased to have in the audience Mrs Emma Lougher,
owner of "A class apart" who are the band's sponsor.
This picture below shows Emma with two of the band members. Horn players Rachael Thomson and
Patsy Hunt are wearing the new fleece
coats kindly donated by the sponsor.
